Sapphy

January 21st, 2012

Sapphy my new pup

This Is Sapphy our Labrador puppy the new addition to the Bonnybank family.

I say puppy, in fact she’s 11 months old and she is now just approaching

that awkward adolescent stage of her life,You know the type of thing, the defiant glare when asked to… Come! … Sit!

Then of course I had that unsavoury task of introducing her to our Cantankerous old lady “Poppy” our beautiful Birman cat, a sprightly 14-year-old but with health issues, although of course as a puppy you don’t understand the delicate nature of cats, you just think this is another Four-legged friend to have a role around the carpet with…. “Wrong

Cats really don’t appreciate having a big Black, cold nose sniffing their bottoms, or that great long wet tongue licking their face; Sapphy was indeed on a very sharp, and painful learning curve.

But time passes by; now of course they are the best of friends, except for that one little niggling dispute; who gets to sit in front of the fire, once of course this was Poppy’s realm; she’d sprawl out and have a good old snooze in front of it without fear of being disturbed.

The very notion of having to share my fire with that big black thing is just ”Outrageous!!”

It’s Snow Time!

Nash in the snow

Now the thing is with Nash

He loves nothing better than to dash and crash in the snow

He loves to frolic and slid then bounces from side to side

Nash is in heaven when you throw snow balls

Then he runs and the snow squeezes between his toes

Then ends up froze to his nose

And he is so sad when all the snow goes

Merry Christmas

December 16th, 2009

So it’s that time a year again and in line with previous years Once again this year we’ve pulled out all the stops to put on a Christmas illumination extravaganza. Despite the deep recession every expense has been spared again this year.
And although we do say so ourselves it’s a display that Blackpool would be envious of and draws gasps of awe from the passengers on the number 347 bus.
Despite the bitterly cold gale force wind and the lashing down of rain and as our fingers turned blue with the cold myself and Chrissie endured the best part of 10 minutes preparing, erecting and testing this year’s display and we think you’ll find the results speak for themselves!

Christmas-Lights-1

Although I can’t take full credit for this year’s effort, Chrissie was of course choreographing the whole proceedings from the sidelines, as I risked life and limb from the dizzy heights of my milk crate! Then gives me a real ear bashing if one of the lights was half a millimetre out of position; but it’s this minute attention to detail that makes the difference between a bog-standard display and a truly great display.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Cheeky Boys

Claude

Clive and Claude’s mum decided she needed some time out from her hectic work schedule and decided a trip down to Londinium for a long girlie weekend and a little bit of retail therapy was in order.
So we were entrusted to look after the cheeky boys.
Yes, Bonnybanks answer to the X Facture’s “Jedward.”
Granted John & Edward don’t quite have the dashing good looks or the immaculate hair style of Clive and Claude but the one thing they do have in common is great big personalities. Yep, the whole place certainly comes alive when these two little curly guys come into the kennels for a stay. And although the boys are now the grand old age of eight years old they still have the energy of a couple of two-year-olds.

A Wee Fable

Labradoodles

Once upon a time,
In a land far far away is the beautiful kingdom of Ayrshire, and there within lay the tiny hamlet of Littlemill.  Where there lived a kind and gentle fairy godmother, along with her “long-suffering, overworked, underpaid” Wizard…
of a husband.
They kept a boarding kennel that went by the name of Bonnybank; where all the happy dogs and cats came for their holidays.
One day three Labradoodles appeared in their midst, They were Toby-a-doodle, with his fine white coat, then Max-a-doodle, a very noble dog indeed with his curly locks, and finally little tiny
Millie-a-doodle, well she’s just cuddly-a-doodle.
Ho! What fun they had along with all the other dogs frolicking the day away in the lovely Ayrshire sunshine.
“What sunshine”? quiet !
But like all good things they come to an end, and the fateful day came when they had to bid farewell to the fairy godmother, and her Wizard.  Boo-hoo!
But the story has a happy ending because they will be coming back very soon.

Thunder From Down Under

“G’day cobbers” I was like a dingo with two tails when I found out I was going back to Bonnybanks Boarding kennels for a short stay, those friendly old pommy’s down there certainly know how to look after a bloke on his holidays.  There’s always plenty of tinny’s.. . .  Of dog food; you get a fair suck of the pineapple when it comes to time in the playground hanging out with all the Bruce’s and Sheila’s.  Cripes! Then there’s the great Ayrshire outback, it’s a Bonzer place for an Australian cattle dog to go walkabout. So if you folks are thinking of booking up for your Summer holidays.  You better get your flaming skates on; this place is filling quicker than a pub at opening time.

Ernie

ernie-0.jpg

Ernie, Long term boarder Ernie is now in his eighth week here at Bonnybanks boarding kennels.  His owner a very nice elderly lady is having to spend a long spell in hospital. Unfortunately Ernie’s future is looking somewhat uncertain.  Having come from a dog rescue centre, it looks like once more he could be returning there.  Ernie didn’t have the best start in life, but his present owner saw the special qualities and the gentle nature of this dignified little dog, in return he as  repaid her by being a loyal and faithful companion always by her side.  Ernie certainly deserves all the tlc we can give him while at our kennels.  But of course we can’t replace all the home comforts that Ernie has grown accustomed to, like raiding the fridge for a midnight snack, sleeping in front of a nice roaring coal fire, then there’s his favourite TV shows;  The Dog whisperer also for those very naughty canines Dog Borstal.Although he enjoys walks in the Ayrshire countryside around the boarding kennels Ernie’s starting to miss family life. So we’re keeping our fingers crossed that there will be a happy end to this doggy tail very soon.

All things White and Wonderful

kayla-and-ben.jpg

The peace and tranquillity of Kayla’s cosy little world has been shattered by the arrival of this little whippersnapper who goes under the name of Ben. This canny little West Highland terrier knows how to keep Kayla under his paws or so he thinks; of course Kayla has different ideas. She soon knocks him into shape. So the chase around the playground begins. It just goes to show you there’s life in the old girl yet. This boxer is not ready for retirement and never throws in the towel. She is a pure champ always ready for another few rounds with her sparing partner.
